The Pittman Dowell Residence is another contemporary house we’ve like to feature here today. The house has contemporary look but minimalist feature and surely a non conventional home structure. The ability to bring and mastering such contemporary home is because today’s modern technology and design support such thing. We’re amazed but not that amazed by the work done by Michale Maltzan.

The owner Lari Pittman and his partner, Roy Dowell, are not so much into traditional home design and this contemporary home is just the right kind of building which expresses the way the owner’s desire. Architect Michael Maltzan was given such challenging tasks, where he need to find the balance between beauty and functionality, but that’s just not all, he also needed to find between shape and space. The owner had pleaded to the architect to “disrupt and dismantle the hierarchy of spaces” and so the polygonal residence came up to end the challenging task and this contemporary home ended up having no real doors to delimitate the space.

To offer the inhabitants with some refreshing green environment internal courtyard was designed. Internal courtyard is given also to ensure both light and privacy in enjoying nature. The oval skylight in the master bathroom also has the fantastic frame of old pine tree. An open living room floor plan also offers panoramas of the city through large glass windows and the rooms are interacting between one another through spiral motion.
