Partiers Vying To Revive Freaknik Amidst Growing Criticism

Atlanta, Georgia– A couple of party promoters are attempting to bring back the popular 1990s Spring Break-like festival, “Freaknik”, despite criticisms the party drew from city officials in the past.

Mayor Kasim Reed’s office said the city is reviewing a Freaknik-related permit application. Two separate events, Freaknik Nation and iFreaknik2011, are being promoted for April 15-17.

Some doubt this years Freaknik festival will live up to its heyday in the 90′s, and feel it should be left in the past.

“Freaknik is dead and they should stop trying to revive it,” said Travis Hudgons, a 34-year-old photographer and veteran of Freaknik in its prime. “It was a different vibe back then. It wasn’t forced. That’s just how we rolled. They need to do their own thing and stop trying to relive a past that they were never part of.”
