It’s been a few months since Fantasia announced her pregnancy to the world, and while some of us were thrilled of the new life she was bringing into the world, others were not moved at all. Members of legendary gospel singer Mahalia Jackson’s camp are more than shocked by her pregnancy, for she is to star in the biographical film, “Mahalia” as the queen of gospel.
The producers of the film aren’t only bothered by her being pregnant, but for them not knowing of her pregnancy until she was four months in. One insider stated, “She initially claimed she was putting on weight for the role”. The executive
producer had this to say: “The family thinks that if Fantasia plays the role, it’s going to sully the name of Mahalia. They think she’s got the wrong image, having a child out of wedlock.”
The filming for this biopic has been pushed back until after Fantasias’ due date on December 27th, which is causing more chaos, as the films budget has gone up from $23 million to $27 million. The producers do however, want to wrap up the movie by fall of 2012, and are in works of finding a replacement if Fantasia decides she can’t shoot after New Year’s.
